Fiona Gavino, one half of the pixels+fibre team, has been awarded a 12 week Asialink Residency to the Philippines. With 286 applicants to the Asialink Arts program Fiona has been fortunate to be selected and will move studios temporarily from Fremantle to Manila from April to June.
Fiona will be hosted by the innovative and dynamic artists run initiative 98B Collaboratory in Manila.
While she is there she will visit rattan furniture factories to learn how they make armatures and then translate this into large-scale woven sculpture. Fiona also hopes to work collaboratively with Filipino artists whilst there and contribute to creative sharing and discussion.
This is an Asialink Arts Residency Project supported by the Department of Culture and the Arts, WA
