Lalapalooza – FREMANTLE FESTIVAL 2013

Lalapalooza: “an extraordinary or unusual thing, person, or event; an exceptional example or instance”.

In October 2013 the Pixels+Fibre team created Lalapalooza, a basket bombing sculpture installation, as part of the 2013 Fremantle Festival. A hot pink arrow installed at the beginning of High Street and pointing at the Fremantle Roundhouse, guided visitors down the street to marvel at this ephemeral and sustainable form of urban intervention which combined traditional basket weaving techniques with innovative forms and colour.

Materials: Cane, sea grass, fabric, acrylics
Artists: Fiona Gavino, Myrto Angelouli
